Monday 2nd - Friday 6th September 2024 marked Winter Sports Tournament week for secondary school teams across both the North and South Islands!
This year Trinity Catholic College sent 7 teams away across the South Island. Mixed Hockey went to Timaru, and finished a credible 8th Place after securing two wins. Congratulations to Jeremy Meikle on being the top goal scorer for the week after scoring an amazing 11 goals.
The Boys Football First XI traveled to Timaru to take part in the Linwood cup and placed 13th overall. Congratulations to Eliot Blair on his 7 goals in the tournament. The Girls First XI football also finished 13th with 3 wins overall across the days of competition. A big congratulations to Bella Anderson who was voted MVP for the tournament.
Our Senior A Netball team went to Christchurch for the South Island Champs and finished 20th in B Grade - a fantastic effort to stay in B Grade considering we had 4 year 10 students in the squad.
Our Junior Boys Basketball team placed 10th in the A grade of the SI Junior Champs in Dunedin, and our junior girls team placed 19th in the junior girls grade. We also had a squash team playing on Friday 6th September at the Otago Squash Club. Well done to Aria and Harper Bannister, and MacKenzie Thompson on your performance.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff, parents, coaches, and managers that helped all our teams throughout the week. It is a week our students always look forward to and is a highlight of the year. I would like to wish all our year 13 students, who competed in their last ever tournament week for Trinity College this year, all the very best with your sporting journey in 2025 and beyond.
