Another careers forum for our senior pupils

This week we had ex-alumni who didn't go onto to university come and speak with our seniors about their different pathways.
We are very grateful to Ashlee, Iona, Ellery, Bridget, Eva and Alyssa for coming in and spending time with our seniors. These students didn't go onto university and some of them finished school just before the first covid lockdown so the way forward wasn't always clear and they didn't necessarily know where they would be in a few years.
The experiences were varied and there was a range of careers including a mechanical engineering apprentice, a police officer who started in office work, a high voltage electrical apprentice, a roading contractor, a dairy farm worker who is also a volunteer fire fighter, occasional paramedic and trainee vet nurse as well as a supermarket worker.
They shared openly and honestly and had positive messages for our students about carving their pathways and being flexible without having to incur great debt to craft their careers. They are resilient and hardworking and spoke about how school can prepare you for the next steps.
