Kī-o-rahi
The year 10 reo Māori class had their first of three classes in Kī-o-rahi with expert facilitator Jeremy Hapeta. Jeremy was accompanied by three masters students from the University of Otago they started with; Te Taha Whānau and whakawhānaungatanga (getting to know everyone). The next lessons' focus will be; Te Taha Hinengaro (the mind, emotions). Kī-o-rahi is a complex game, Jeremy is great at breaking it down and begins by building skills through simpler games first. Tā mātou waimarie hoki!
This term there is an inter-school Kī-o-rahi competition on Wednesdays starting at 4pm at the Otago Boys sports fields. This has been organised by the rakatahi youth council, Te Pae Māhuri. If you are interested in giving this a go contact: Patrick Cotter (our Te Pae Māhuri representative) or Whaea Maya.
