How Social Media stole our presence and why we must reclaim it

Another thought provoking article from 'Safe on Social' that challenges us as parents and educators to discuss with our young people.
The school monitors students digital activity during school hours. It monitors for potentially harmful searches, for students distraction levels and it blocks sites that we consider are distracting students from learning. We block social media for many reasons including distraction and issues around mental health and cybersafety.
Outside of 8:30 am- 3:30 pm Monday to Friday, there are still 133 hours for students to potentially be on social media, and some are, long into the night. This article throws up some food for thought concerning the impact of social media on all of us with some practical steps to minimise its impact.
